Las Animas Dog Rescue Association (LADRA – which also means “bark” in Spanish) was formed by Brischa and Ted Borchgrevink in 2012 to provide care, shelter and rehabilitation to dogs rescued in the Puerto Vallarta area and to match them with adoptive families. Las Animas operates with the aid of donations, volunteers, and friend organizations.
Ted and Brischa, with their Doberman, moved to Puerto Vallarta from Norway in 2004. Shortly after their arrival they rescued their first dog, Tobias, who was abandoned on a roof and had been covered with hot oil. In the years since, they have been helping hands in the rescue and adoptions of countless dogs.
Ted and Brischa also own Hacienda Las Animas, a bed & breakfast in Puerto Vallarta that they occupy with some of the rescues that they have given a furever home to.
They are very strong supporters of PEACE Animals, a non-profit organization that offers free sterilization clinics within and surrounding Puerto Vallarta. Colina free Spay & Neuter also lays very close to heart.
With little financial assistance Ted and Brischa have built and opened the ‘Las Animas Dog Rescue Association’ (LADRA) facility, located on a gorgeous mountain side that overlooks Puerto Vallarta.
“Las Animas” in Spanish means “spirits.”
